On Tuesday May 26th my web card, which I now know is the equivalent of what we call in Britain, a dongle, decided to pack up on me. I rushed it into the shop
for repair or replacement and was told it would take 14 working days, (3 weeks). Horror of horrors.
My Sarah having just moved was, and still is, having trouble getting broadband wireless installed due to the fact that she now lives in the New Forest.
Having broken my ribs a couple of weeks before, I was staying with her so that I could be waited on and looked after. The frustration of having the whole family with no Internet has been horrendous. Then yesterday I was looking through the Argos catalogue and discover that there is now such a thing as a pay as you go web and walk dongle. The cost is £25 to set ones self up with one. Yesterday I bought one of these and it was a simple matter of replacing the pay as you go chip with my contract chip in order to get me up and running on the web again until my web and walk card is sent back to me.
I have to say that this new dongle, although very slow is far more reliable than my usual web and walk card.
While I have been MIA my Sarah has had to have 2 operations on her knee. The first op led to bleeding internally instead of getting better, but the 2nd op seems to have been successful. In the meantime Sarah's poor partner has been having to wait on both Sarah and myself hand and foot. It has been a terrible worry about Sarah and I can tell you that I wouldn't wish broken ribs on my worst enemy.
My ribs now are healing fine. I am no longer in abject agony but instead now just feel a little bruised, unless I do something stupid like moving too quickly or bending up and down without holding tight to my diaphragm.
My Sarah and family spent last weekend down in Cornwall from Friday to Monday and I was left dog sitting. Thank goodness Beverley (Niece) had taken the rabbits back to hers to look after so I didn't have them to worry about. I spend the weekend bored to tears. No Internet and no visitors.
I had been lent the first 3 series of Enterprise on DVD so I spent the whole four days catching up on those. I had only seen a few of whole of those series due to the fact that when they came to British TV my Sarah and girls moved in with me and I had big complaints when I tried to watch them on TV. Being able to sit and watch so many episodes on DVD one after the other was brilliant. I have to sadly admit that I am a Trekkie.
I did have some thoughts on a new profile and board skin though while I have been out of action so I might find some time to put those thoughts into action soon.

I honestly can't understand why these things take so long. It can't cost them a £1 to make one of the bloody things, you would think they wouldn't waste their time repairing it but instead just send out a new one.
God!!! These companies really tee me off.
But at least now I have this dongle thing which seems to be working very well and will in future be worth having as a back up.

We missed you sandy! Very strange being on Yuku without you around.

But quite honestly I don't care which I use as long as I can get on here and post.
Thanks for that lovely image. It's always nice to know if one is missed. I had a terrible fear that all would scatter to other places if I wasn't here to answer posts and comments. It's lovely to come back and find everyone still around my zone.
