My Winters Tale

  1. Moving - Halloween - My Birthday

    11/02/09 04:36:55 | 4 Comments

This week has been an eventful one for me. Last Sunday I moved into my new flat. Saturday was Halloween and this Sunday was my 61st Birthday.

The actual move went really smoothly, but then it would as I had no furniture to move. Having moved out of a caravan where all fixtures and fittings came with it, I had to buy all new furniture for the new flat. All was in situ in the flat ready for the move on Sunday, that is all except the suite which is another story, so it was only a...
  2. My Poor Bayley

    08/17/09 14:31:14 | 11 Comments

imageI took Bayley to the vets this evening for a dental check up. The reason being, not because he is having any trouble with his teeth, but because he is getting old.

He is now coming up for 12 years old and I thought I would have his teeth checked again for him to have another scale and polish while he is still young enough not to be in the danger zone of going under...
  3. The Horror of Being off Line

    06/10/09 03:44:49 | 6 Comments

On Tuesday May 26th my web card, which I now know is the equivalent of what we call in Britain, a dongle, decided to pack up on me. I rushed it into the shop for repair or replacement and was told it would take 14 working days, (3 weeks). Horror of horrors.

My Sarah having just moved was, and still is, having trouble getting broadband wireless installed due to the fact that she now lives in the New Forest.

Having broken my ribs a couple of weeks before, I was staying with...
  4. Good News for Aimee

    12/19/08 16:58:47 | 2 Comments

Our Aimee (Granddaughter) had a nice phone call tonight. She is in 6th form college and has been trying to get a job for either weekends or evenings to get a bit of cash to top up her EMA.

For those of you that don't know, EMA is £30 per week paid to all kids by the government to help them through college.

Jobs are very scarce now and although she has been sending off application forms, so many apply for each job that she hasn't even managed to get an interview with...
  5. My 60th - Halloween - and a Tearful Me

    11/01/08 04:13:00 | 18 Comments

Wow, I just don't know where to start.

Today is my 60th birthday and last night was Halloween. I was born at 20 minutes past midnight on the night the Witches and the Dead were roaming freely.

Being my 60th and having reached this special mark in my life I have thought over the last weeks that perhaps it should be celebrated in a special way but couldn't come up with anything I particularly wanted to do. Last year, being the first time in years that once again...
  6. We Reap What We Sow

Sometimes it seems that I do nothing but run around after my girls. There is the keeping Sarah company while she drags me through every shop she sees, sometimes more than once each one. There is the babysitting the kids and when it's not the kids it's babysitting the animals.

I plan a lazy day, getting up late, mooching around doing what I want, when I want, and...
